Monitor ID Utility
  1. Click the appropriate link for your architecture to download the Display Adapter ID Utility to the location of your choice.
  2. Navigate to that location and double left-click on the file named "IDdisplayadapter-win.exe", select "Run as administrator", and provide administrative credentials when prompted. Depending on your computer's speed, after at least 30 seconds, a Notepad window will open containing details of your system's display adapter(s).

Computer Profiler (Mac OS X)
  1. Click the link to download the Computer Profiler Utility to the location of your choice.
  2. Type "terminal" in Spotlight and click the Terminal icon.
  3. Type "chmod 755 " (be sure to include a space after 755) in the Terminal window.
  4. Navigate to the download location and drag the icon for the file named "ComputerProfiler-mac.command" to the Terminal window, press Enter.
  5. Double-click the icon for the file named "ComputerProfiler-mac.command".  If you are presented with a window that says ""ComputerProfiler-mac.command" is an application downloaded from the Internet.  Are you sure you want to open it?", click the Open button.
  6. Click the Apple icon in the MenuBar, click System Preferences, click Security & Privacy. Click the "Open Anyway" button under the section "Allow apps downloaded from", on the General tab.  See http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491 for more details on this procedure.
  7. A TextEdit window will open containing details of your computer.
  8. Copy and paste the entire contents into the "Notes:" field of this form.

Color-coded utilities have some features that require administrative credentials in order to take advantage of them, but most features are available when run as a standard user.
